# Gemini Code Assist RTL Support

Adds Right-to-Left (RTL) text direction support to the **Gemini Code Assist** chat interface in VS Code. Designed for Hebrew, Arabic, and Persian speakers who want natural text alignment when chatting with Gemini — without affecting code blocks or UI elements.

## Technical Details

This extension modifies the installed files of the `google.geminicodeassist` extension on the host machine.
It locates the extension in `.vscode/extensions` (or `.cursor/extensions`, etc.), and backs up `webview/styles.css`, `webview/app_bundle.js`, and `dist/extension.js`.
It then injects a CSS payload and a JS payload wrapped in specific markers (`/* RTL Toggle Button - Added by script */`).

### JS Payload
The JS payload inserts a toggle button `⇄` (`⇄`) into the webview body. When activated, it adds the `.yby-rtl-active` class to the body.
It also uses a `MutationObserver` to watch for new nodes matching `p, div, span, li, h1, h2, h3, h4, h5, h6`. If those nodes contain RTL text (Hebrew, Arabic, Persian), it adds the `.YBYrtl` class to the node.

### CSS Payload
The CSS payload targets `.yby-rtl-active .YBYrtl` with `direction: rtl; text-align: right !important;`.
It explicitly overrides `pre`, `code`, and `.code-block` to force them back to `direction: ltr !important; text-align: left !important;` so that code snippets in RTL responses are rendered correctly.

## Architecture

- `src/extension.ts`: Entry point. Registers commands to inject or remove RTL.
- `src/finder.ts`: Locates Gemini installations across platforms (Windows, macOS, Linux, WSL).
- `src/injector.ts`: Safely reads, backs up, and modifies `styles.css` and `app_bundle.js`.
- `src/content.ts`: Holds the raw JS and CSS strings for the injection payloads.
- `src/statusBar.ts`: Manages a single-click status bar toggle `Gemini RTL: On/Off`.
